Where is it we are going?
Pause stride and give thought to this notion.
Let’s stand still for once to notice
Our misdirected locomotion.
We must involve the human heart
In the journeys we are daring.
Perhaps in doing so we can avoid
The dereliction of our caring.
When tragedy befalls our purest,
It must feel we’ve been forsaken.
Our caravan is lessened
When our most beloved are taken.
Though we move ever forward,
We must also look behind us.
For we would be remiss to ignore
The Road has also taught us kindness.
